The 13-inch MacBook Air with the full 10-core GPU and a 1 TB SSD. Against the R27,743 entry model this adds two GPU cores and doubles the storage — and of the two, the storage is what most people will notice, because it cannot be added to later.

The M5 runs a 10-core CPU of four super cores and six efficiency cores, a 16-core Neural Engine and 153GB/s of memory bandwidth, with 16 GB of unified memory. The extra GPU cores earn their keep in video export, 3D and gaming; for documents, browsing and calls the entry model is indistinguishable.

The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display runs 2560 × 1664 at 500 nits. MagSafe 3, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack; Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread; a 12 MP Center Stage camera with Desk View; four speakers with a three-mic array; and a 53.8 Wh battery rated up to 18 hours of video streaming. Fanless and 1.24 kg, so it is silent whatever you ask of it. Note: this unit is supplied without a power adapter. The MXN53 adapter must be purchased separately.
