The 32-core M5 Max in Space Black. Against the M5 Pro the CPU is unchanged at 18 cores, but the GPU grows from 20 cores to 32 and memory bandwidth rises well beyond the Pro’s 307GB/s. That is the difference that shows up in render times, in grading playback, and in anything where the graphics side rather than the processor is holding the work up.

Configured with 36 GB of unified memory and a 2 TB SSD. On Apple Silicon the memory pool is shared between CPU, GPU and Neural Engine, so 36 GB here is doing more work than the same figure on a machine with discrete graphics.

The 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR panel runs 3456 × 2234 at 254 ppi with ProMotion to 120 Hz, 1000 nits sustained and 1600 peak. Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC, headphone and MagSafe 3, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The 100 Wh battery is rated up to 22 hours of video streaming.
