The 13-inch MacBook Air in Midnight, the near-black finish and the most understated of the four. Inside is the entry M5 configuration: a 10-core CPU with four super cores and six efficiency cores, an 8-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine and 153GB/s of memory bandwidth.

The 8-core GPU is the only place this sits behind the rest of the range, and it matters for video export and 3D rather than for the browsing, documents and video calls most Airs spend their lives doing. Memory is 16 GB and storage a 512 GB SSD, both fixed at manufacture.

The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display runs 2560 × 1664 at 500 nits. Ports are MagSafe 3, two Thunderbolt 4 and a headphone jack, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. A 12 MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, four speakers, and a 53.8 Wh battery rated up to 18 hours of video streaming, in a fanless 1.24 kg body that never makes a sound. Note: this unit is supplied without a power adapter. The MXN53 adapter must be purchased separately.
