The most capable MacBook Pro configuration JLS carries. The M5 Max here runs its full 40-core GPU alongside the 18-core CPU and 16-core Neural Engine, on the highest memory bandwidth Apple offers in a notebook — eight more GPU cores than the 32-core Max, and twice the graphics resources of the M5 Pro.

That is aimed at a narrow but real set of jobs: 8K timelines, heavy 3D and effects rendering, large machine learning models run locally, and colour work where playback has to stay real-time. With 48 GB of unified memory and a 2 TB SSD, both the working set and the project archive stay resident on the machine.

The 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display runs 3456 × 2234 at 254 ppi with ProMotion to 120 Hz, sustaining 1000 nits full-screen and peaking at 1600. Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC, headphone and MagSafe 3, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The 100 Wh battery is rated up to 22 hours of video streaming.
