The Intel Core i7-12700 is a 12th-generation (Alder Lake) desktop processor that brings Intel’s performance hybrid architecture to the mainstream. Eight Performance-cores handle the heavy, latency-sensitive work while four Efficient-cores absorb background tasks, giving 12 cores and 20 threads in total and a maximum turbo of 4.9 GHz through Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.

With 25 MB of Intel Smart Cache, support for either DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200 memory and 20 lanes of PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 connectivity, it slots neatly into the LGA1700 platform and leaves room to upgrade graphics and storage later. Integrated UHD Graphics 770 means the system will post and run without a discrete card, which is useful for troubleshooting or for office builds that don’t need one.
